The frame, a rectangular structure composed of various longitudinal and transverse steel beams, serves as the foundation of the vehicle body. It must possess sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand the vehicle's load and the impact transmitted by the wheels. The structural form of the frame should align with the overall layout of the vehicle, ensuring that the normal operation of various components is not disrupted during driving and enhancing the vehicle's driving stability. It is necessary to understand various aspects of the frame's data to achieve better matching in design and production. This involves utilizing 3D scanning technology to obtain precise data.

Facing problems

 The overall vehicle chassis is bulky and heavy, which is not conducive to movement. The structure of the external components is complex, with various large and small parts unevenly distributed, and different structural components connected together, requiring scanning of many details. This poses certain challenges to the scanning work.

 If we continue to use traditional methods, it will take longer, result in lower work efficiency, make it difficult to obtain data, and the data accuracy will be low. We will be unable to utilize the data and provide precise solutions.

Solution

 Based on our company's years of experience, for scanning large workpieces, we utilize our 3D photogrammetry system HL-3DP paired with a 3D scanner for scanning and measurement. Initially, marker points and coding points are affixed to the scanning frame. Subsequently, the 3D photogrammetry system captures images of the frame's bottom from various angles. These captured images are then imported into the HL-3DP software. Through triangulation, the HL-3DP software automatically combines the images and, after computation, yields the 3D coordinate values of key information on the object's surface. It can correct point cloud information on large-area surfaces, enhancing the overall point cloud stitching accuracy of the 3D scanner. By importing the 3D coordinate values of the frame into the 3D scanning system, the handheld 3D scanner Model 37 is employed to swiftly and comprehensively scan the frame from different positions. For fine details, the scanner's fine mode can be utilized, allowing for clear scanning of local features. Additionally, the scanner is visual during use, enabling real-time observation of the operation being performed, making it convenient and straightforward to operate.

        Acquire 3D data and import it into 3D reverse software for data reverse modeling, generating the required data report according to customer requirements. The 3D photogrammetry system HL-3DP, when used in conjunction with a 3D scanner, can reduce the cumulative error in 3D scanning data stitching, improve data accuracy, and enhance work efficiency when scanning ultra-large workpieces. This solution has addressed customer issues and provided a precise data solution that can be applied to subsequent work plans.
