A well-known domestic pump manufacturer hopes to quickly obtain the appearance data of the original vacuum pump through a 3D scanner, speed up the replacement, design and development of later product parts, and improve the production efficiency of the vacuum pump.
1. As the vacuum pump is an imported unit lacking technical drawings or data, subsequent redesign and reverse engineering (to recreate the blueprints) are required for parts replacement.
2. Traditional measurement methods (such as checking fixtures, jigs, and CMMs) are cumbersome and time-consuming, failing to provide accurate and rapid measurements of the vacuum pump.
3. The vacuum pump features complex geometry with significant surface curvature variations and recessed grooves; this results in incomplete 3D data acquisition, making it impossible to proceed with the redesign.
Vacuum pump accessories are integral components that function in conjunction with parts such as the pump body. Classified as cover-type components, they primarily serve to connect other parts while providing structural support and ensuring a secure, sealed fit, thereby guaranteeing the pump's proper operation and preventing gear interference. These accessories are produced via casting and machining; the mating surface that interfaces with the pump body requires high precision, necessitating 3D data scanning of the component followed by redesign.

Preliminary Preparation:
Applying developer spray: Enhances the contrast of the sample's surface background color to obtain better scan data.
Affixing reference markers: Enables the alignment and stitching of the acquired data within the scanning software.
