The assembly housing of the battery pack is a core component that ensures the safe assembly and stable operation of the battery pack. Its outer contour and mounting‑position accuracy directly affect the assembly compatibility and protective performance of the battery pack. The customer needs to obtain high‑precision complete data of the housing through 3D scanning, generate a 3D inspection chromatogram by comparison with the original model, and quantify deviations to judge whether the machining is qualified. Since the entire housing is black with numerous mounting positions, the customer has strict requirements for scanning accuracy and detail reproduction. Traditional measurement methods cannot meet such requirements, so the HOLON3D Model 49 handheld full‑blue‑laser industrial‑grade 3D scanner was selected to deliver a digital inspection solution.

Facing problems

The key challenges in inspecting the assembly housing of battery packs lie in material and structural details: the black surface tends to absorb measurement signals, which causes data loss and blurry details when using conventional scanning equipment. The housing features multiple mounting positions and complex assembly structures, creating scanning blind spots on the inner sides of mounting positions, corner transitions and other areas that cannot be fully covered by traditional local‑measurement tools. Strict precision requirements apply to indicators such as the dimensional tolerance of mounting positions and housing profile. Conventional measurement methods are limited in accuracy, and manual data splicing is prone to cumulative errors, making it impossible to meet the customer’s stringent standards.

Solution

The HOLON 3D Model 49 scanner can be used to solve these targeted challenges. Delivering metrology‑grade industrial accuracy and adopting full‑blue laser technology, it can penetrate light‑absorption interference on black surfaces without special pre‑treatment and precisely capture data on the housing contours and details of mounting positions. Equipped with four scanning modes, it enables flexible switching according to features such as the overall outline of the housing and fine structures of mounting positions. Its handheld design allows free angle adjustment to easily reach hidden areas including the inner side of mounting positions and achieve full‑coverage scanning with no blind spots. High‑speed non‑contact measurement prevents damage to the housing and is free from site constraints. Only a small number of marker points need to be pasted for it to stably output high‑quality data. Comparison between scanned data and the original model generates clear chromatograms for accurate error quantification and scientific qualification judgment. It fully meets customer requirements and provides reliable support for housing quality control and process optimization.
