3D Scanning of Wastewater Treatment Equipment Blower Impeller

The blower impeller is a critical component of the power system in wastewater treatment equipment. A prominent domestic manufacturer of large-scale water treatment equipment needed to perform 3D scanning on an imported wastewater treatment blower impeller. By acquiring high-precision 3D data to facilitate reverse modeling and rapid repair of the impeller, the company aimed to minimize financial losses.




Facing problems

1. As the wastewater treatment equipment is imported, no technical drawings for the blower impeller are available; consequently, replacing the part requires mold creation for repair and reverse engineering to reconstruct the design data.

2. The blower impeller features complex curved surfaces with significant variations in curvature and demands high precision for the central shaft bore; standard industry methods cannot measure it with the necessary accuracy or completeness.

3. Traditional measurement methods (such as inspection gauges, fixtures, and CMMs) are cumbersome and time-consuming, failing to provide the accurate and rapid measurement required for the blower impeller.


Solution

The fan impeller features a large volume and complex curved surfaces, and the client required high precision and rapid scanning. HOLON 3D engineers proposed a solution using the company's newly developed handheld 3D scanner, the HOLON76014. With its high-speed single-laser-line scanning capability—which eliminates the need for spraying developer—the device accurately and quickly captured the impeller's 3D data, successfully resolving the client's challenges.
