Shoe molds are critical tools in the footwear manufacturing process used to shape components such as soles and uppers, employing high temperature and pressure to set materials into specific forms and structures. They are pivotal in determining the dimensional accuracy, aesthetic details, and functional characteristics (such as slip resistance and cushioning) of the footwear, while also influencing production efficiency and material utilization; high-quality mold design ensures consistency in mass production and meets rigorous standards for comfort and durability across various types of footwear.

Facing problems

1. As shoe mold scan data is critical for quality inspection and the quality of the manufactured product, clients demand extremely high precision.

2. Shoe molds feature complex, intricate textures and numerous internal edges with varying curvatures and steep, vertical slopes, making scanning difficult; traditional measurement methods are cumbersome and time-consuming, and fail to achieve the required level of accuracy.

Solution

Shoe patterns are complex and demand high measurement precision; however, traditional methods yield limited data and fail to accurately capture 3D data for mold surfaces and near-vertical planes. HOLON’s 3D technical engineers proposed a solution using the smart49 handheld 3D scanner to rapidly acquire the necessary mold data. This approach offers high precision, speed, ease of use, and efficiency, successfully meeting the client's scanning requirements and resolving their challenges.
