Blanks are unfinished semi-finished products—such as castings and forgings—that come in a wide variety of types; serving as the base material for subsequent processing, they are widely used in sectors including machinery manufacturing, construction, and energy.

Facing problems

The surface of the raw workpiece is relatively rough and features burrs; it is an unmachined curved surface. The customer requires rapid acquisition of its complete 3D data.

Solution

Using the HOLON industrial-grade 3D scanner, millions of data points can be captured per second, clearly reproducing intricate surface details. Real-time positioning is achieved via optical markers, eliminating the need to fix the workpiece in place during scanning and significantly boosting efficiency. The system supports data export in formats such as STL, OBJ, and PLY, ensuring seamless integration with various industrial software applications. Scan data can be directly imported into inspection software for comparison against digital models, enabling the rapid generation of inspection reports and real-time monitoring of production quality.
