The cutter is a critical component in drilling operations. Its primary function is to break rock, achieving efficient drilling through a combination of actions such as indentation, shearing, crushing, and tensile fracturing. Hualang engineers use a handheld 3D scanner to inspect the internal dimensions of the cutter, ensuring that tolerances remain within acceptable limits.

Facing problems

The client needs to measure the arc data of the workpiece's inner wall. The application requires high measurement accuracy, yet the confined space and highly reflective surface make measurement using traditional methods very difficult.

Solution

HOLON engineers proposed a solution utilizing the Model 37 metrology-grade 3D scanner, which offers an accuracy of 0.02mm. By combining a high-intensity laser with a deep-hole scanning mode, the system captures comprehensive 3D surface data. This data is then imported into professional inspection software to rapidly generate comparison reports, enabling precise quality control of the product.
